Schedules and Information below for our Adult Classes, Kids Classes, and Women's Fitness/Self-Defense
The Gi Basics class covers the fundamental building blocks of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, This class instruction consists of principles and techniques for positional control, submissions, counters, and escapes, This class is perfect for the beginner through 2 year student or anyone looking to revisit the fundamentals! What is a Gi? Here is your answer.
The Gi Intermediate class is focused on continuing the development of the principles a student already knows, from classes like our Gi Basics. In this class less time will be focused on explaining basics and more time will be spent on detailed instruction, more advanced techniques, and proper application.
The Self Defense class is defined by its name. Every martial art should be focused on Self Defense first and foremost, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is no exception. This is a top priority for any new student that enters our programs. If you can't defend yourself, then all you accomplished was a good workout, and that's not good enough! This class will focus on common self defense scenarios and how to apply Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to control the situation and protect yourself. This class runs in a 3 month cycle and also features bi-weekly controlled fight simulation to allow the students to emulate dangerous situations and how to use Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to overcome them. A students confidence, reflexes, and safety will grow dramatically experiencing this class.
The No-Gi class reflects a combination of the Self-Defense techniques and "no grip necessary" Gi techniques. The speed and application of principles and techniques in a No-Gi scenario are unparalleled, creating a fun and challenging opportunity for learning. This class will also cover a mix of intermediate techniques that keep you thinking of exciting possibilities as your knowledge of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grows.
WOMEN'S FITNESS & SELF-DEFENSE
Women's Fitness & Self Defense:
This class is for women only mid-day Wednesday starting Sept 21 2016. Women's fitness and self-defense class will challenge you with a good workout AND provide you with the knowledge to defend yourself, all in the same class! The fitness aspect will focus on common kickboxing and training techniques to kick your butt into shape. We teach heavy bag striking, kettle-bells, battle ropes, and more. For self-defense we focus on critical Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques to mitigate an assault and otherwise escape. Our opinion is...
"If a woman can only fit 1 hour into her schedule, we would like her to benefit from both fitness AND self-defense. You shouldn't have to pick just one."
Take a look at this excellent video made by Crosley Gracie Jiu Jitsu, in California. They demonstrate the types of techniques that you will learn. Attend this class and you will be surprised at just how effectively you can defend yourself from an attacker of larger size and strength, using Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. That is what this martial art was designed for:
Gi and No-Gi:
The Gi and No-Gi classes cover the fundamental building blocks of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, just like the adult class, but with safety limits in place and an emphasis on fun! Kids class instruction consists of principles and techniques for positional control to stop a bully or attacker, submissions to persuade an attacker to stop, and counters/escapes to avoid an attack, This class is perfect for students ages 6yr through 14yr. Additionally, fun social building and energy expelling games are played at the end of each class!
